People in the News: Britney's clothes are up for grabs

Starting Monday, you can own a piece of Britney Spears -- the clothes she wears on that night's appearance of the sitcom "How I Met Your Mother."

The Associated Press reports the weeklong online auction will benefit the Natural Resources Defense Council, an environmental organization.

Spears' big TV comeback is as a receptionist who falls for the show's main character.

A half-dozen Spears-worn items will be available, including a navy print Juicy Couture dress, a yellow Nannette Lepore dress and a cream Nannette Lepore cardigan with blue flower details.

CBS and 20th Century Fox Television, which produces the show, are sponsoring the auction.

It's been awhile since a freak accident threatened to take the life of a high-profile musician. In the world of Tejano music, Emilio Navaira is one of the biggest stars. The Grammywinning singer was critically injured Sunday when his band's bus crashed on a highway near Houston, the AP reports.

Navaira and his band Rio had performed at a Houston nightclub on Saturday night. At about 5 a.m. Sunday, the band's bus slammed into traffic barrels, a police sergeant said.

Navaira was one of eight passengers on the bus who were injured. He was listed in critical condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he was being treated in the intensive care unit, a hospital administrator said.

The bus was the only vehicle involved, Kerr said.

Navaira, 45, and Rio have released more than a dozen albums including "Acuerdate," which won the 2003 Grammy for best Tejano album.

Born in San Antonio, Navaira earned a music scholarship from Texas State University.

He formed the band with brother Raul, who was among those who suffered minor injuries.
